It's a Bright and Shiny Day!

I am SO so so so excited to show of my new blog design! I really wanted something more unique that was 150% me and this. is. it!

The past month has been a complete kerfuffle of nonsense. Sickness, holidays, and financial stress all led me down to some deep soul searching and a desperate need to get my passions back on track. I've learned a lot in the past six months and am ready to tackle new and improved web designing!

I'm head over heels excited about launching Wordpress design soon. I already have some customers lined up and can't wait to get started with them! Please take a look around- I know there are some pages that still need true information on them and not just a shoddy "COMING SOON" job. But when I say soon, I mean soon!

LJD will soon be offering premade templates for as low as $10 a pop and some awesome free tutorials on those pesky html issues many bloggers have day to day. If anyone has any suggestions on tutorials they'd like to see or ideas on premades, please leave them in THIS form! Who knows, maybe your blog design idea or color scheme will be my first one!

I've been insanely busy with fabulous blog designs the past two weeks. It seriously overwhelms me to think that there are people out there that really want me to design their blogs! The money has truly been a gift from above and has helped Topher and I stay afloat during these past couple of months.

As most of you know, I started working full time a few weeks ago. I in no way want to slow Laura Jane Designs production down, though! I'm busting tail to keep up with all of you and make you satisfied, beautified customers! If you notice, designs are taking a tad longer than usual and that is simply because this is a major adjustment period for me. I'm learning how to balance my 8-5, cuddle my toddler, and bust out a fantastic blog header all at the same time. Forget keeping up with all the rest! lol

Every one of these ladies was wonderful to work with. I am SO pleased with how their blogs turned out and really connected with them. All three had scrapbook style layouts with lovely pictures to include. I really enjoy working with scrapbook kits because they give me such a broad range of elements to use and include in a layout. For bright, pattern-ful, and funky designs I definitely recommend scrapbook style!

Angelica's Awesome Adventures

This design is just so much fun! I think turquoise and purple are quickly running up the ladder to my fave colors to use in a design. It also helps that I had adorable pictures to work with. Nothing beats a redheaded cutie in my book!

Lee La La!

Lindsay was SO much fun to work with- she has a knack for style and design and I can't help but love that in a gal. She wanted something simple, yet creative, with the pictures she picked out so we stuck with light and elegant colors with small pops of pink. With each of my designs and projects, I bust tail to make my customers 110% satisfied with a design. Charging for extra revisions and trying to nickel and dime my customers for small projects or favors would go against everything I want Laura Jane Designs to be! Now I want to go above and beyond doing small coding tweaks and graphics changes and offer freebie backgrounds, images, and even some templates for everyone!

Because of some suggestions from a few customers, I've decided to make it a little easier to leave a tip or donation for my free services. And instead of me sending you an invoice or putting an annoying giant yellow donate button on my blog, I'm asking that you simply buy me a cupcake.

Installing your menu bar (if applicable)

Just under the (Header) box click Add A Gadget. Add an HTML/Javascript widget.

Open the text file for the Menu Bar and copy/paste this into the widget.

This widget is where you customize the links for your menu bar. I automatically have Home, About Me, and Contact in there for you to get started. There is also an example of how to input the drop down links (with "the kids" and "the author" links).

Simply replace the # signs with the links to your pages.

There is a really really awesome tutorial at April Showers about customizing this widget.

*Save any files sent to you after purchasing a premade template to your desktop, or another easy to find file*

- Please remember that any changes made to the HTML and template of a premade design is the sole responsibility of the purchaser.

I am not responsible for correcting these mistakes.

- If mistakes are made to a premade template I am able to correct them for a $20 an hour fee, with a minimum of one hour.

You will need a Photobucket account to host additional images.

Additional images = grab button, social icons {NOT your header}
Don't panic, Photobucket accounts are free.

Back up your template

From your Dashboard, follow this click order: Design --> Edit HTML --> Download Full Template.

Save this file somewhere you can easily find it again (Desktop, for example).

Now, if you have several widgets with html/javascript or text content, you will want to back these up as well.

Widget content IS NOT GUARANTEED to survive the self-installation. It is sometimes lost or shuffled around.

Open your widget and copy/paste the content into Notepad to save for later.

*Why Notepad? Microsoft Word adds automatic formatting. This formatting can wreak havoc on a web template.

Upload your premade template

Start with the Minima template:

Click on Design --> Edit HTML --> scroll down to Select Layout Template --> choose Minima --> Save Template --> Edit HTML

Browse and Upload the file you saved to your desktop.

*You may choose to Keep Widgets, but remember that content will probably be lost or shuffled in the upload.

Save template.

Go to Page Elements.

Click Edit on the (Header) box. Here is where you enter your blog title and tag line.

Installing your menu bar (if applicable)

Just under the (Header) box click Add A Gadget. Add an HTML/Javascript widget.

Open the text file for the Menu Bar and copy/paste this into the widget.

Simply replace the # signs with the links to your pages.

Installing your Grab Button (if applicable)

{Make sure the grab button image attached in your email is uploaded to your free Photobucket account.}

Copy and paste the following code into an HTML/Javascript widget.

Copy the Direct Link from Photobucket for this image and paste into the code you just put in the widget where it says "DIRECT LINK"

Find the all caps text that says "BLOG URL." You will need to replace this with your homepage URL.

Important! Make sure you do not delete the quotations around it!

Save the widget and you're done!

Installing your Social Icons (if applicable)
{Make sure any social icons attached in your email are uploaded to your free Photobucket account.}

Add an HTML/Javascript gadget.
Copy and paste the following code into the gadget:

Copy the Direct Link from Photobucket for the corresponding image and paste into the code you just put in the widget where it says "DIRECT LINK"

Important! Make sure you do not delete any quotations around it!

Simply repeat these steps for each social icon. You can choose to put the codes right next to each other with no spaces and make the icons side by side. Or space down and paste the code to make them stack vertically. It really depends on the size and shape of the icons.

Save the widget and you're done!

Please display this button on your new blog.

If interested in hosting a giveaway, please contact me about my available slots. I only have the ability to do two giveaways a month. If your blog is eligible, we will schedule the giveaway date and I will send you a file of images and requests. You must contact me after the giveaway winner is chosen with with winner's email address so I may contact them. It's not my responsibility to keep up with the giveaway and track down the winner's email address.

I reserve the right to turn down any requests to host a giveaway. Some things I take into account when scheduling my giveaways are follower and feed subscription numbers, site content, and unique visitor stats. Please do not be offended if I decide not to sponsor a giveaway with you. I do my best to accommodate all types and sizes of blogs, but since this is money I am practically giving away I need to take my risks and potential financial return into account.

Installation Instructions for Blogger

1. Please make sure any final payments have been made to callmelaurajane@gmail.com. Feel free to contact me if you’re still not sure if or what you owe.

2. Back up your template! Go to your Dashboard, click Design, then Edit HTML, then Download Full Template. Save this somewhere you can easily find it.

3. Give me administrator privileges:
    a) Go into Dashboard, click Settings, then Permissions, then invite me as an author.{CallMeLauraJane@gmail.com}
    b) I will send you a confirmation email that I’ve accepted.
    c) Please go back into Permissions and make me an administrator --> very important!

4. Read my Terms of Design again. Please remember that I require the designer credit and button to be displayed on the home page of your blog. It’s not ugly, so don’t worry too much. =)
